      News article:
Young Man Killed on Armstrong Road

A fatal automobile accident happened about two and one half miles west of Armstrong, when the new Auburn car driven by Robert Smith struck some soft gravel and turned over twice. The unfortunate young man's skull was crushed and he died almost instantly. He was alone at the time and was returning from Estherville where he had spent the afternoon. The car is a total wreck. It was owned by C.H. Steinberger who lives near Gridley and with whom the young man had made his home for the past three years. The accident happened about four o'clock in the afternoon.
Robert was born at Whitten, Iowa, twenty-four years ago. He spent most of his life at Union, Iowa where he grew into manhood. About three years ago he came to this county and has made his home with the Steinberger family since his arrival. He is survived by a widowed mother and brother. The brother came in response to the message announcing his death and the body was taken to Union, Iowa where services will be held. It was accompanied by the brother and Mrs. Steinberger and her son, C.H. The young man had many friends in Armstrong and Gridley communities who will be pained to hear of his untimely death.
